When I was in grade 5, we were studying India, and we decided to do some Indian cooking as part of the mix. Our teacher said she had a big surprise for us, and we could not think what it might be. And then she told us that she had set up a day when Meeru, from the restaurant Vij’s, was coming in to do Indian cooking with us. The next morning when we all arrived, there was a buzz of excitement. About twenty minutes after school started, Meeru arrived with some supplies, and we spent all morning making curry, which was really amazing, and for days after that, the classroom smelled like Indian food.
